What is an RSS (or Atom) Feed?

As we mentioned in the previous entry, you can use the RSS feed for this blog to make it easy to keep up with the updates to this site. But some of you might be wondering what an RSS feed actually is. If you're not familiar with RSS, here's a fun primer:

(If your browser settings blocked the embedded video above, it's a YouTube video called RSS in Plain English.)

Feeds are becoming more prevalent and more important on the Internet as a way to allow people to pull information on demand. There's also another type of feed format called Atom that is used quite heavily in Quickr, both as a way to get information and (in some cases) update and create information. More on that in a future blog entry.

Do you know if Quickr has an aggregator built-in?

I think this would be useful similar to the way unread counts are useful in Notes, but I haven't seen any such thing yet for Quickr (on Domino). :-(

I don't like having to be at my PC to use the IE RSS stuff, and Notes 8's shelf is a little weak as well. I'm sure I could find a 3rd party app or web service to push out, but if Quickr has a built-in aggregator that would be sweet.

Cheers,

Jeremiah
